February 7 Greatbatch School of Music Preview Day

School of Music Preview Days are designed to provide you with a detailed look at Houghton's Greatbatch School of Music. Seniors also have the option to audition for the School of Music. Students planning to major in any form of music are required to audition before being admitted into the School of Music, so you have the option to audition during your visit. If you are a high school junior, you have the option to do a junior audition coaching; this is simply a time for you to do a practice audition and gain audition experience.

School of Music Preview Days start at 9:00 a.m., and activities will conclude around 4:00 p.m. Activities will include a tour of the music facilities, attending music rehearsals, meeting the music faculty, and attending Chapel. We will also provide lunch for you and your guests in our dining hall!

Please note: students planning to audition need to apply to Houghton University for admission prior to auditioning.

If you are auditioning for music composition, you will need to submit a portfolio of your work to Dr. Carrie Magin at carrie.magin@houghton.edu. Your portfolio must be submitted at least two weeks prior to your audition date.

Juniors have the opportunity to perform a junior audition coaching with our music faculty. A junior audition coaching gives you the chance to practice doing an audition, but will not count as a real audition. Would you like to participate in a junior audition coaching session?
